Appetence is a piece inspired by Han Kang’s book The Vegetarian, which follows a young woman’s experience as a vegetarian in South Korean society, and subsequent descent into madness. Among others, the book introduces themes of isolation and suffering.
DISCHARGE PRINTING removes the fabric’s original dye while adding white pigment, creating a soft, breathable finish with virtually no hand feel. The print ages naturally with the cotton, giving each piece its own character.
Individually screen printed by hand in Japan by an independent printer with over 20 years of experience across fashion, music, and art. A specially developed separation process translates the artwork into a detailed black-and-white discharge print, capturing subtle tones and contrast.
CARE: Wash soon after purchase, preferably inside out in a mesh laundry bag. The print settles after approximately three washes. Avoid tumble drying before then, and never tumble dry on high heat.
